Comparison
Waldo vs. Hootsuite: the calendar or the intelligence?
Hootsuite runs your posting operation. Waldo tells your agents what to make of the market around it.
The short answer
Hootsuite is the veteran social media management platform: scheduling, inbox, and analytics on published per-seat plans, with listening from its Talkwalker acquisition. Waldo is an agent-native brand intelligence layer: 200+ API and MCP endpoints that hand agents raw posts, ads, and audience data plus analysis, metered by credits.
Hootsuite has been the default social management platform for over a decade: a scheduling calendar, engagement inbox, and analytics across networks, sold on published per-seat plans with a custom Enterprise tier. Its 2024 acquisition of Talkwalker added serious listening capability to the suite.
Waldo is not in the posting business. It supplies the intelligence around the posting: what competitors are running in the ad libraries, what the category is talking about, what audiences say in their own words, all through 200+ REST endpoints and a native MCP server built for agents rather than app users.
When each one wins
Choose Waldo when
- The job is intelligence: what competitors run, what the category discusses, what audiences care about.
- Agents should pull the data directly instead of a person exporting reports from an app.
- You need competitor ad libraries tracked daily, which a publishing platform does not do.
- Headcount-based pricing does not fit a workload that is mostly automated calls.
Choose Hootsuite when
- Your team schedules and publishes across many networks daily and needs one reliable calendar.
- Published per-seat plans make budgeting and buying straightforward.
- You want listening and publishing under one roof following the Talkwalker acquisition.
- Established training resources and certifications help you onboard a rotating bench of coordinators.

Where Waldo is different
Different job entirely
Hootsuite works the owned side: your accounts, your posts, your inbox. Waldo works the market side: competitors, categories, and audiences, delivered as raw sources or scored analysis per call.
Install once, use everywhere
The MCP server is one block in mcp.json or an org-wide connector, and works in Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot. Tools like discover_ads and category_trends are then available wherever your team already drafts.
Competitor ads on tap
The Meta and Google ad libraries are tracked daily per brand, and /brands/{id}/ads/active returns the live creative set with landing page snapshots nearby. Publishing platforms are not built for this.
Pricing scales with calls
Credits from an org-level pool, roughly 1 per 20 results on raw lists and 5 on analysis calls, with volume discounts. Nobody audits seat counts.
Questions teams ask
Can Waldo schedule or publish posts?
No. Waldo has no publishing, inbox, or engagement features and is not trying to add them. It is the intelligence layer: teams keep a management platform for posting and add Waldo where market data needs to reach agents.
We have listening through Hootsuite. Why add Waldo?
Listening inside a management suite serves people in the app. Waldo serves agents and code: raw posts, daily competitor ad pulls, GWI audience panels, category trends, and landing page snapshots over API and MCP, with every output linked to sources.
What does getting started look like?
Self-serve: sign up at /build/get-started, the wizard mints an API key, and the MCP connector installs org-wide in one step. Case studies with Crossmedia, McKinney, and PETERMAYER show what teams build from there.
