Use case

Mine the category’s angles before you write a word

Every hook running across the competitive set, organized into a versioned taxonomy with example creative attached.

The short answer

Waldo mines creative angles by scanning the Meta and Google ad libraries daily for every brand in your set, then organizing the hooks into a versioned angle library per category. One call returns the taxonomy with example creative attached, so a creative strategist sees the crowded angles and the whitespace before writing a word.

The job to be done

Before a creative strategist can find the fresh angle, someone has to map the stale ones. The manual version is grim: twenty ad library tabs, screenshots pasted into Figma, a taxonomy that lives in one person’s head and leaves with them. It is out of date the day it ships, and nobody can say whether an angle is genuinely open or just missing from the screenshots.

A useful map covers every hook running in the category: which angles are saturated, which are emerging, which died and might be worth reviving, each tied to actual creative. And because the map changes weekly, it has to be versioned, so drift is visible instead of anecdotal.

How Waldo does it

Pull the angle library

GET /category/{id}/angle-library returns a versioned taxonomy of every hook across the competitive set, with example creative attached and ready to drop into a brief.

Ground it in the full ad sets

GET /brands/{id}/ads/active supplies the raw material per brand. One real pull returned 14,793 active Meta ads for a single brand, which is why nobody should be building this map from screenshots.

Use days live as a signal

Long-running ads are ads someone keeps paying for. Days-live metadata separates the angles brands are committed to from the ones they quietly retired after a week.

Dig during the working session

MCP: discover_ads answers the follow-ups inside Claude while the brief is being written, and enrichment endpoints fetch a specific post or transcript when one execution deserves a closer look.

Questions teams ask

What exactly is an angle library?

A versioned taxonomy of the hooks running across a competitive set: the claims, framings, and formats, each with example creative. Versioned means you can diff it over time and watch the category’s messaging drift.

Does it include ads that stopped running?

Yes. Everything captured is stored permanently, so retired creative stays in the record. Some of the best angles are ones the category abandoned before the audience did.

Do I get raw ads or analysis?

Both, chosen per call. Raw pulls run about one credit per twenty results; the clustered analysis runs about five credits. Strategists typically pull the taxonomy first and the raw sets when an angle needs interrogating.
